Auto Expo, Greater Noida, 2023
Auto Expo, the Motor Show, is a biennial event held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, in India. It was started in 1986 and used to be held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi till 2012. In 2014, Auto Expo, the Motor Show moved to India Expo Mart in Greater Noida and Auto Expo – Components continued at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Auto Expo 2022 was not held because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Auto Expo 2023 was held during January 13-18, 2023, after a gap of almost three years. Notwithstanding the three difficult years of the pandemic, there was active participation from the manufacturers and the public visited the exhibition in large numbers. There were a record 6.36 lakh visitors, the highest ever in the history of Auto Expo.
Participants
The major participants were, Hyundai, Kia Motors, Maruti Suzuki, MG Motor, Tata Motors, BYD Auto, Toyota, Lexus, and more. The big three luxury car companies, Mercedes, Audi and BMW did not participate, but that did not affect the public interest in the Show. There was spotlight on electric vehicles. Almost all manufacturers had electric vehicles, which were showcased as featured products.

Kia Motors EV9 concept car
Kia EV9 concept was first displayed in 2021 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is a fusion of a bold SUV and high-end EV. It is expected to be launched in the U.S. during the late-2023.
Kia Motors Sonet car
Kia Sonet is a compact SUV which was premiered as Kia Sonet concept car at Auto Expo 2020. It is marketed in India, Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa and several Latin American countries.
Kia Motors Sonet X-Line car
Kia Sonet X-Line is the high-end variant of Sonet car models. The most distinguishing feature of X-Line is the matte graphite exterior paint shade. Also, the grille is different and the front and rear skid plates have a distinct piano black metallic finish.
Kia Motors Seltos X-Line car
Kia Motors Seltos X-Line car is top variant in the Seltos range of SUVs. The most noticeable feature of the X-Line variants is the matte graphite color shade of the car.
BYD Atto 3 car
BYD Atto 3 is an electric SUV manufactured by BYD.
BYD Seal car
BYD Seal is a compact electric sedan from BYD. It is expected to be launched in India during the late-2023.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 car
Hyundai Ioniq 5 was first unveiled globally in February 2021. It was introduced in India during the Auto Expo 2023. Ioniq 5 is a battery electric compact crossover SUV.
Hyundai Ioniq 6 car
Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a battery electric mid-size fastback sedan. It was unveiled in July 2022 in South Korea,
Maruti Suzuki Fronx car
Maruti Suzuki Fronx has been unveiled during the Auto Expo 2023. It is a subcompact crossover SUV positioned below the popular Breeza model. Maruti Suzuki Fronx is being released in the market during April 2023.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny car
Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been introduced during the Auto Expo 2023 and is expected to become available sometime during 2023. It is based on Suzuki Jimny, which is four wheel drive off road mini SUV and has been sold by Suzuki since 1970. It promises to provide comfortable drive in rough terrains.
Lexus LF-Z concept car
The Lexus LF series is a range of concept cars built by Lexus, which is the luxury car division of the Toyota Motor Corporation. “LF” stands for “Lexus Future”. The Lexus LF-Z concept car is a battery electic vehicle, expected to become available for consumers in 2025. It is a crossover SUV, expected to have a range of 600 km and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 3 seconds.
Lexus LF-30 electrified concept car
LF-30 is a battery electric vehicle concept launched by Lexus in November 2019. LF-30 is futuristic; all four wheels have individual electric motors, charging is wireless, window opacity can be controlled, the front passenger seat rivals a first class airline seat, the charging is wireless, the interfaces are gesture controlled and the presentation of vehicle information is via augmented reality (AR).
Lexus LC 500h car
Lexus LC 500 is a hybrid electric two-door fastback coupe car, first revealed in February 2016. It has an impressive 3.5 L 8GR-FXS V6 engine, has 10 speed multi-stage hybrid system automatic transmission, is about 4.7 m long and 1.9 m wide and costs about 2.6 crore rupees. It is grand tourer (GT) class of car, designed for long distance and high speed driving, offering good performance and comfort.
Lexus ES 300h car
Lexus ES series comprises of mid-size executive cars, in production since 1989. The ES300h model belongs to the sixth generation of Lexus ES cars, the car models produced and sold during 2012-2018. Lexus 300h is a 4 door sedan, petrol and electric hybrid model featuring a 2.5 L 2AR-FXE I4 engine and six speed automatic eCVT. It costs around 77 lakh rupees.
Lexus RX 500h car
The Lexus RX series comprises of luxury crossover SUV, sold by Lexus since 1998. Lexus RX 500h has a petrol hybrid 2.4 L T24A-FTS turbo I4 engine, six speed automatic transmission and Direct4 all wheel drive system. It costs around 1.18 crore rupees.
Toyota Corolla Cross H2 Concept car
Toyota Corolla Cross H2 Concept car is a prototype hydrogen powered car. It is powered by a 1.6l 3-cylinder turbo engine from the GR Corolla. The exterior is the same as the default petrol powered Toyota Corolla Cross, which is a crossover compact SUV, being available in the market since 2022. The concept car is under evaluation for using Hydrogen as the alternate fuel and reducing the carbon footprint.
Toyota Mirai car
Toyota Mirai is a hydrogen Fuel-Cell Vehicle (FCEV). The hydrogen form the fuel tank and air coming in from the intake grille “meet” at the Fuel Cell Stack. A chemical reaction between the oxygen in the air and hydrogen generates electricity which powers the Mirai car. Also, some water is generated. There are safeguards associated with the hydrogen fuel tank. Toyota Mirai has been sold in Japan, US and European markets since 2014.
Tata Motors Curvv car
Tata Motors Curvv is a concept car. It is a coupe and the one on display at Auto Expo was the ICE version. It is believed that electric version would be there in future.
MG Next-Gen Hector and Hector Plus cars
MG launched face-lifted versions of Hector and Hector Plus cars at the Auto Expo 2023. Hector Plus is basically a three row variant of Hector. Hector is five-door SUV. Hector cars have 1.5L petrol or 2.0L diesel engine. Both petrol and diesel versions have six speed manual transmission and there is the optional CVT for the petrol version.
MG eMG6 car
MG eMG6 is a Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It uses batteries to power an electric motor and petrol to power and internal combustion engine (ICE). It primarily runs on electrical power, but when the battery is mostly down, the petrol powered ICE takes over. eMG6 is a sedan with 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine which is paired with a synchronous permanent magnet motor. The power transmission is via a 10 speed automatic gearbox.
MG Mifa 9 car
MG Mifa 9 is an electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. It is marketed as Maxus G90, or Maxus Mifa 9, overseas. It is a 7-seat eMPV, powered by a 90kWh battery. The engine produces 241 bhp and 350 Nm torque.
